That the Taranaki Regional Council:
1. notes that the Stratford District Council has chosen the Taranaki Regional Council
Transport Committee to represent it in land transport planning matters for
the air, soil
and freshwater plans towards a proposed draft of the Natural Resources Plan.
• discussions with iwi/hapu and other councils to gain an understanding of Mātauranga Māori and how it will be
included into the monitoring programme for freshwater within Taranaki.
• a watching brief is maintained on the status of Marine and Coastal Area (MACA) applications from iwi and
hapū.
• discussions continue with most of the iwi of Taranaki and the regional and district councils on the …

Executive summary
The South Taranaki District Council (STDC) operates a total of 11 water treatment plants (WTPs) throughout
the district. STDC holds 33 resource consents which include 307
and
implementation levels, in particular servicing the
Taranaki Solid Waste Management Committee,
implementing a revision of the Regional Waste Strategy
by June 2021, and partnering in delivering waste plans
for the three districts of Taranaki.
Servicing of the Taranaki Solid Waste Management Committee is
continuing. The Waste Minimisation Education Annual
Programme Plan will be reviewed during the 2015/2016 year. The
recently appointed Waste Minimisation
development of a community vision for freshwater management, and will feed into the Council’s Regional Policy Statement (RPS), which is currently under review. TRC Chair David MacLeod says Taranaki’s waterways are important in so many ways, with social, cultural, environmental and economic impacts for our community. “We want to build an ambitious and achievable long-term community vision.” He says this vision will help to guide policies for managing our freshwater bodies under the freshwater plan and may
