closure of the old Hursthouse Road facility. For background
the Company was under a consented obligation to move all mixing and blending of material from outside
of the facility to inside by 1 June 2019. This was achieved. The former site had been vacated by February
2019, the site office had been removed and the land slightly contoured. The mineral bins had been cleaned
out and in the case of the soakage ponds, filled in. The site has since been sold. The associated consents
held in respect to
geology being drilled; and
• To maintain well pressure and lubricate the borehole wall to control cave-ins and
wash-outs.
The well is drilled progressively using different sized drill bits. The width of the well is
widest at the surface as smaller drill bits are used as the well gets deeper. Once each
section of the well is drilled, a steel casing is installed. Cement is then pumped down
the well to fill the annulus (the space between the steel casing and the surrounding
country rock).

Activity 4: Pollution
Because most wetland areas receive water directly from the land much of the water
in them can be quite polluted on its arrival. But the wetlands act as a cleaning agent
in much the same way as our kidneys purify our blood, allowing waste products to
be removed.

gaseous emissions. The ventilation rate is increased
during loading out, when the door is left open to allow clearer viewing by operators in
the dusty conditions. An odour-neutralising agent is pumped into the air from a
manifold around the door while it is open.
The store remains closed and inoperative for about 30% of days in the year. Filling
takes place for about 50% of days in a year, and emptying for 20%.
Additional components are mixed into the chicken litter, either on the ground
clad gully adjacent the school
playing fields.
This space has been the hive of activity with
several classes cleaning up the dreaded
tradescantia, some additional plantings, the
construction of a set of new steps that will
link together two existing paths, and a viewing
seat which has spectacular views over the
ngahere and up to Patuha.
The steps and seat have been designed and
built by a group of senior boys, who are not
afraid to get stuck in. The steep hillside steps

Eco-bricks
As another step forward in our major push to help clean
up Papatūānuku, we have registered Taranaki
Enviroschools with Eco Bricks globally to get this ball (or
brick) rolling. What's an Eco-Brick? I hear you ask.
An eco brick is a plasc bole not
and tidy. It was
observed that the skimmer pits were filling up with sediment. The Company
representative stated that the skimmer pits would be cleaned out.
7 September 2011
An inspection was undertaken during fine weather. The drill rig and all associated
equipment had been removed from the site. A large cage had been placed around the
wellhead. The site had been cleaned. The ring drains were dry at time of inspection.
The first skimmer pit had been pumped out and cleaned. The second pit

well head as possible. In most cases field measurements of pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity
and temperature were recorded and a water sample only taken when these parameters had
stabilised. For each well sampled a field sheet was filled out and returned to ESR (Appendix
B). Bottles for pesticide and glyphosate analysis were supplied by AsureQuality and bottles
for EOC analysis were supplied by Northcott Research Consultants Ltd.
