at Okaiawa, in the Waingongoro catchment. Utilising an existing weir across the Waingongoro River and
tunnel under Normanby Road, water is diverted for electricity generation. The station is located
approximately 3.2 km downstream of the weir, but due to the tight meander, these structures are located
only 90 m apart.
