2. Freshwater Update
2.1 Ms L Hawkins, Policy Manager, spoke to the memorandum to provide the Committee
with an update of the Freshwater Implementation programme.
Resolved
That the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) received the July 2023 update on the freshwater implementation
disconnected esplanade reserves
border the Manganui River up and downstream from the weir, but do not provide for practical public
access.
Lake Ratapiko is created by a dam on the Mako Stream. The Lake is bisected by Ratapiko Road
with its western side used over summer by the New Plymouth Water Ski Club (NPWSC), with a club
campsite to the west of Ratapiko Road. The campsite features a clubroom, toilets, marina, boat
launching ramp and play facilities. The eastern side of the Lake is used by Jet
corner of
Monmouth Road and Mountain Road/State Highway 3, approximately 1 km north of Stratford. The site is
adjacent to a tributary of the Kahouri Stream which forms part of the Pātea catchment, and is within the
shared rohe of Ngāti Ruanui, Ngāti Ruahine and Ngāti Maru.
This report for the period July 2022 to June 2023 details the monitoring programme implemented by
Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the Company’s environmental performance and
compliance with its resource
