TRC Interim Technical Memorandum Lake Trophic State NOF Baseline State September 2023

nitrogen Table 11 presents estimates of total nitrogen concentrations translated to attribute bands for 67 Taranaki lakes, from two models (Schallenburg et al. 2023 and Snelder et al. 2022). Because mixing regimes for all Taranaki lakes have not yet been accurately classified, the estimates are assessed against the attribute criteria for both seasonally stratified lakes, and polymictic lakes (the criteria for polymictic lakes being comparatively less stringent, as shown in Table 1).

Freshwater Macroinvertebrate State of the Environment Report 2019 2023

macroinvertebrate fauna surveys were undertaken in spring (October to December) and summer (February to May). Since that time, surveys have been taken once a year during summer (February to May), following recommendations from the previous annual report. The methodology has remained relatively unchanged over time, and there are currently 67 sites monitored throughout 35 rivers and streams across the Taranaki region. This annual report includes an assessment of Council’s macroinvertebrate data against
