3. LOCATION AND CONNECTION TO THE NATIONAL GRID
Opunake Hydro Limited generates electricity and sells it to an electricity retailer that on
sells to retail customers in the Taranaki region as well as to the national grid. The
location of the existing scheme is due to the presence of a storage facility (Opunake
Lake) which means it can generate at peak times of the day. In addition, the present
location provides a reasonable head
