away from the front crank bearing, damaging the engine.
When using contractors or hiring equipment, make sure that the equipment used has been
cleaned before use on your farm. This is so diseases are not transferred within the effluent
from one property to another.
There are two types of contracting operations - pump spreaders and vehicle spreaders

2.1.1 Inspections
07 December 2020
An inspection was undertaken to assess compliance with resource consent conditions. It was raining at the
time of the inspection. Four samples were obtained; one downstream (clear), one upstream (clear), one from
the storm water discharge pipe (turbid) and one form the head waters adjacent to the storm water
discharge pipe, at this location there was a visible sheen. The

stream was turbid and brown in colour. The piggery wastewater flow rate from the final pond was
estimated to be at 14 L/s.
The wastewater discharge from the final pond had no visual downstream environmental impact on the
Waiongana Stream at the time of the survey. The consent holder continued to discharge for a
propagation and consequent
dissemination of the endangered
rhododendrons whose future the
Pukeiti Rhododendron Trust is trying
to secure. Members got an opportunity
to see the Rouse House propagator and
improvements to the shade house
which have been paid for by The Trust.
These improvements are designed to
increase the success rate of the
propagation efforts.

Section 14 of the RMA stipulates that no person may take, use, dam or divert any water, unless the activity is
expressly allowed for by a resource consent or a rule in a regional plan, or it falls within some particular
categories set out in Section 14.
Petrochem Limited holds water permit 10295-1 to cover the taking of groundwater, as ‘produced water’,
during hydrocarbon exploration and production activities at the Kowhai-D wellsite. This permit was issued
