The activity falls under Rule 51 of the Regional Freshwater Plan for Taranaki and is classified as a discretionary activity. The application may be non-notified if no parties are deemed to be adversely affected by the proposed activity. At the time of writing, there were a total of 18 current resource consents for DWI in Taranaki. However, several resource consents have been issued for relatively short- term
or a rule in a regional plan, or it falls within some particular categories set out in Section 14. SENZL holds coastal permit 5992-1 to take produced water and associated heat from aquifers in the coastal marine area associated with hydrocarbon exploration and production activities. This permit was issued by the Taranaki Regional Council on 16 June 2003 under Section 87(c) of the Resource Management Act. It is due to expire on 1 June 2033.
