grade lactose plant located on Manaia Road at Kapuni, in the Kaupokonui catchment. The
plant processes whey and permeate from dairy product manufacture around the North
Island. This report for the period July 2015-June 2016 describes the monitoring programme
implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the Company’s
environmental performance during the period under review, and the results and
environmental effects of the Company’s activities.
The Company holds a total
holders in the Fitzroy area of New Plymouth. The report covers the period July 2016 to June 2017, and is the
24th report for this combined monitoring programme.
The Waiwhakaiho River catchment is significant for the Taranaki region. It is used for domestic, agricultural
and industrial water supply, hydroelectric power generation, recreational purposes, and waste assimilation.
It is also important to the local hapu. Because of the pressure on the river, the Taranaki Regional Council
(the
Regional Council (the Council) outlines
Greymouth Petroleum Limited’s (the Company) deep well injection (DWI) activities during
the monitoring period 1 July 2012-30 June 2013. The report provides details of the DWI
consents held by the Company during the period under review, and the compliance
monitoring programme implemented by the Council with regard to these consents. The
report also discusses the results of the monitoring carried out, and provides an assessment
of Company performance with
instigated plans to establish a large landfill
in the Eltham area. The purpose of this site was to ultimately accept waste from the South
Taranaki and Stratford Districts. The plan was changed to allow for a regionalised approach to
waste disposal and the site is now currently a proposed option as the replacement regional
landfill once the facility at Colson Road, New Plymouth has reached capacity. The final
decision is subject to review of all alternatives to be undertaken by the district councils
