Stream downstream of Taranaki Sawmills Ltd during a wet weather survey. The levels were found to be well
within the empirical NOECs (no observable effect concentrations) for aquatic life developed by the
European Chemical Agency and the Cawthron Institute.
Monitoring of groundwater and leachate in relation to the old landfill area off Bewley Road showed that all
of the samples collected from the three monitoring bores complied with consent limits.
There were six

Wiremu Road at Opunake, in the Heimama catchment. This report for the period July 2012-
June 2014 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional
Council to assess the Company’s environmental performance during the period under review,
and the results and environmental effects of the Company’s activities.
The Company holds two resource consents, which include a total of nineteen conditions
setting out the requirements that the Company
operations are more than 1.2 km from the road
with irrigation close to the road. Based on my measurements the closest
part of Pad 3 is about 1.4 km from the road with the activities on Pad 1
approximately 1.7 km from the road. The closest grass area that will be
irrigated is approximately 400 metres from the road, southeast of the
office and weigh bridge.

General Description
The Base Camp QEII covenant is located at the end of Radnor Road and is connected to Te Papakura o
Taranaki (Egmont National Park). The site consists of 26.38ha of cut over and well regenerated native
bush on a
life cycle. As hydroelectric schemes were introduced, and
roads and farm tracks crossed streams to open up access
to land for development, barriers to fish passage grew. We
know that the total number of instream structures in the
region is likely to be in the tens of thousands however, we
don’t yet know how many of these structures present a
barrier to fish passage.
The Council is taking steps towards improving ecosystem
health, and identifying structures for

further 76 surf breaks
have been identified as regionally significant in the Regional
Policy Statement for Taranaki.
The Council has prepared a Draft Coastal Plan that, among other
things, provides a high level of protection to all 80 surf breaks,
with the four nationally significant surf breaks having the highest
level of protection. The Draft Plan also identifies a stretch of surf
breaks from Kaihihi Road to Cape Road as a ‘Nationally
Significant Surfing Area’. The
