Rangitatau West Road at Maxwell, in the Waitotara catchment two kilometres from the
Makokako Stream. It operates on a commercial basis.
This report for the period July 2009-June 2013 describes the monitoring programme
implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council to assess the Company’s environmental
performance during the period under review, and the results and environmental effects of
the Company’s activities.

A complaint was received regarding odours discharging from a composting facility on
Mokau Road, Uruti.
An odour survey was undertaken in the vicinity of the complainant property. Constant
objectionable odours were found at the complainant’s house and along Mokau Road to
the gate to the Remediation New Zealand worm farm. A letter seeking explanation has
been sent.

Chronically
canopy species of this cutover remnant, with pockets
of kohekohe and pukatea and occasional miro, rimu and rewarewa. The remnant is comprised of native
forest types (WF13; Tawa, kohekohe, rewarewa, hinau, podocarp forest and WF8; Kahikatea, pukatea
forest) that have been greatly reduced in Taranaki. The nearest protected sites include other Key Native
Ecosystems in the area, such as Barraclough Opua, Kaweora Road Forest and Te Papakura o Taranaki
(Egmont National Park).

Representative, clarified that the assessments undertaken for environmental effects for
incidents of a digger in a river on Weld Road and a hydrocarbon discharge at Port
Taranaki were both visual assessments. An incident report provided by Port Taranaki
will be emailed to Ms E Bailey.
3.5 Councillors D N MacLeod and C L Littlewood declared a conflict of interest in relation to
Port Taranaki Limited.
