Proposed Regional Pest Management Plan for Taranaki
and
Taranaki Regional Council Biosecurity Strategy
The Proposed Regional Pest Management Plan for Taranaki (the Plan) and draft Taranaki Regional Council Biosecurity Strategy
2017–2037 (the Strategy) was publicly notified for submissions on 20 May 2017. As a non-statutory document, the Council was
not required to consult on the Strategy.
Rule 34 of the Regional Air Quality Plan for Taranaki
offers a wide range of advice on
how land can continue to be farmed in a sustainable
way. Because this service has been developed as part
of the Council’s legal requirement to promote the
sustainable management of natural and physical
resources, it is offered at no cost to the landowner.
Different plans for different needs
Using this service, property owners can ask the
Council to develop any one of four plans that best meets
individual requirements:
during two of the inspections so samples were not collected. During the third inspection the
discharge was not observed to be having any impact on the tributary so a sample was not collected. An
upgrade to the stormwater system was undertaken at the site in the 2021-22 monitoring year and the
stormwater management plan still hadn’t been updated to reflect this
For reference, in the 2022-2023 year, consent holders were found to achieve a high level of environmental
performance and compliance

from you about how
we should be caring for the precious resource.
We heard from you last year on your vision and values for
freshwater and creating six Freshwater Management Units
(FMUs) for the region. We're now seeking feedback on
environmental in those FMUs as we plan how togoals
look after freshwater now and for the future.
The six proposed FMUs are the Volcanic Ring Plain,
Waitara Catchment, Northern Hill Country, Pātea
Catchment, Coastal Terraces and Southern Hill

What is the NOF process?
The National Objectives Framework (NOF) is a process which regional councils must work through in
tandem with their freshwater plan reviews. The NOF process involves setting long-term visions (aspirations)
for freshwater health, implementing changes to freshwater management approaches (e.g. rules and
consents) and monitoring key elements of the state of freshwater to track progress toward achieving
outcomes. The NOF
