2.1 Site description
Freshwater and Land Management Plan, looking at
further work on a number of issues raised during
consultation on the draft Plan while at the same time
working with the Government to iron out uncertainties
in the National Policy Statement for Freshwater
Management, national stock exclusion regulations and
amendments to the Resource Management Act.
Other aspects of the Council’s regulatory business
continued to show pleasing results. The 2016/2017 year
was the 17th
reducing the risk and severity of flooding as a result of
severe weather.
The Council has worked alongside landowners to
prepare sustainable land management plans for 840 hill
country farms, covering 67% of hill country land in
private ownership.
Alongside these efforts, the Council also continued to
work with communities and industry across the region
to reduce or eliminate impacts from point-source
discharges, and taking enforcement action when
further instruction is given.
