Stream from which an easterly direction is struck to Huanui, then northeast to
Waitara-iti. The rohe then finds a natural eastern definition in the Waitara River as the river flows
southward to the Pouiatoa precinct. From here, the border extends further south and then
northwest along the Taramoukou stream to a point where the Waitara river connects with the
Makara Stream. The confines of manawhenua are then traced in a northerly direction, skirting
slightly west of the Poukekewa,

sites in Brixton. These sites are located on Waitara and Pennington Roads in Brixton, in
the Waiongana catchment. RNZ also operates a remediation, composting and verimculture
operation on Mokau Road at Uruti in the Mimi catchment.
This report for the period July 2015 to June 2016 describes the monitoring programme
implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess RNZ’s environmental
performance during the period under review. The report also details the results of the
ensure sufficient
information is available to manage each in relation to the identified vulnerability to eutrophication
and sedimentation, long-term monitoring is recommended for each estuary below.
For Tongaporutu, Mimi, Urenui, Mōhakatino, Waitotara, Waitara and Patea Estuaries, all with
significant intertidal and subtidal habitat comprising poorly flushed/muddy substrata, moderate-
high nutrient/sediment loads and high human use and cultural/ecological values, the following four

Waitara and Bell Block will get an extra weekday bus service to and from New Plymouth in the New Year, taking the number of return services from five to six. Tranzit Coachlines, which operates Citylink services under contract to the Taranaki Regional Council, will begin the new Route 20 timetable from Thursday 3 January, 2019. The additional service means Waitara High School students from Bell Block will be able to catch a bus home at 3.15pm. “At the moment they face a 75-minute wait, so the

of the activity with the surrounding land use (nearby residential houses), which resulted in odour incidents.
The vermiculture production facilities have been operating at Waitara Road since 1998.

biological product that can be used as a fertiliser
o Te Huia. The coastal marine area
was an important part of the tribal rohe and included land, outlets, streams, rivers,
lagoons, reefs, beaches and sand hills. Just as hapu exercised mana over the whenua, so it
exercised mana over the moana. Many of the first settlements in the rohe such as Nga
Motu and the Waitara River were on the coast. Papakainga such as Puke Ariki, Purakau,
Rewa Rewa and Mangati were located on the coast close to the valued resources of
water,
full name of the Mimi River is Mimitangiatua. The river is also known as Te Wai o
Mihirau. Mihirau was an ancestress of the Te Kekerewai hapū and was a prominent
woman of her time. The name Te Wai o Mihirau is referred to in a Ngāti Mutunga
pepeha:
