Executive summary
The New Plymouth District Council (NPDC) maintains two reinstated landfills at Inglewood
and Okato. Both landfills have been used in the past, and are now held in reserve to accept
refuse on a contingency basis. The Inglewood landfill is located on King Road at Inglewood,
in the Waiongana catchment, and the Okato landfill is located on Hampton Road at Okato,
in the Kaihihi catchment,
NPDC also maintains three closed landfills; Okoki landfill in the

Executive summary
Inglewood Metal Limited (the Company) operates a quarry located at Everett Road in the
catchment, having taken over management from the former consent holders Inglewood Metals Ltd during
the monitoring period covered by this report.
This report for the period July 2016 to June 2017 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the
Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the Company’s environmental and consent compliance
performance during the period under review. The report also details the results of the monitoring
undertaken and assesses the environmental effects
through
the site toward the east. Discharges of contaminants from the activities on the site are likely to be into these
waterways. The surrounding properties are all in pasture and any activities on adjacent properties are rural
in character. The nearest towns are Stratford which is 10 km to the south east and Inglewood which is 12 km
to the north.
The predominant soil type has been identified as gravelly sand, and vegetation growth transitions from
native forest at the edge of the national
focusses primarily on the compliance of the current operators
under the current consents, but will also present results and discussion regarding the previous operator,
Inglewood Metals Ltd. Consent 10247-1 was issued to Inglewood Metals Ltd alongside the renewal of
consent 1113-4 on 1 December 2016. Both consents were transferred to the Company on 6 April 2017. At
the time of reporting the Company have applied to change the conditions of the consent, which is still
being processed.
This
showed that overall the NPDC water schemes are well operated and maintained and appeared
to be having no adverse effects on the environment.
NPDC provided all the abstraction data required under consent conditions and this showed that all daily
volume limits and instantaneous abstraction rates were complied with. Self-monitoring of the Inglewood
discharge showed less than minor non-compliances with suspended solids limits. However, NPDC has since
implemented measures to prevent future …
travel is driven strongly by children and young people accessing education, and TRC has
been proactive by introducing additional urban school routes in New Plymouth and the Your Connector
service from Hawera, Eltham, Stratford, and Inglewood into the city.
Compared to many parts of the country, local operators Tranzit, Pickerings and Weir Brothers have
managed to provide sufficient numbers of drivers to keep services going to the current timetable. This
