walk there were several local people for
whom this was their first visit to Pukeiti
and they couldn’t believe what they had
been missing. They didn’t join us for tea
and coffee at the end of the walk, as
there were still parts of the garden to be
seen and they went off to do a bit more
exploring on their own.
In July, Peter Catt led the walk looking at
our collection of vireya rhododendrons
growing in the vireya houses. Those who
attended were educated and
January was warmer than usual while rainfall for the month was just slightly above normal – but with some big differences across the region. Waitotara at Ngutuwera had 53% less rain than usual while Uruti at Kaka Rd had 39% more. The average rainfall for the region was 108.4mm, 2% more than usual. The average air temperature for the region (excluding Te Maunga sites) was 18.2°C, which is 0.6°C warmer than long-term January averages. The highest temperature was 30.3°C at Waitotara at Hawken Rd.

fortunate to have New Plymouth as its main centre which has a high level of amenity, facilities and

Foreword
Development of a Regional Public Transport Plan
(RPTP) gives the Council an opportunity to engage
with the
2020 (NES-FW) as part of the Government’s Essential Freshwater reforms. The actions outlined in the FWFP will be tailored to each farm and will complement the existing efforts of many farmers. These plans will work with other regulations, including nitrogen caps, stock exclusions, intensive winter grazing regulations, regional plans and consent requirements. Currently, farmers and growers are not required to take any immediate action. They should continue with their usual activities and follow
We're developing a new plan for freshwater in Taranaki as part of the Government's Essential Freshwater reforms. Key to this is a kōrero with our community about how we manage freshwater. The Natural Resources Plan for Taranaki will replace the Council's Regional Freshwater Plan and your feedback will guide the targets, limits and rules in the plan that ensure we manage freshwater effectively for the whole community.
