included fittings for shed air recirculation as at Midhirst, and that the boilers had been

27. Osflo arrived about 10.45 am, and were to begin by emptying shed 4. With rain setting in, I
considered there would be little gain in continuing to monitor odour, and left the site about
11 am.

Think about the things that could make water more turbid eg rain washing over
muddy ground with no plants. Design and make your own turbidity device by
filling a glass jar with pond water and see if you can easily see through it.
Do this again by stirring up the water from the bottom of the pond and then noting
the difference.

Much of the scheme is monitored and operated remotely by the Company. Through an automated water
level sensor system, the Company can monitor the residual flows in the Manganui River and Mangaotea
Stream, water levels in the race and lake and how much rain is falling locally. This has allowed the Company
to manage race flows to minimise flooding, and has greatly improved the Company’s compliance with
residual flow requirements.
