a regional plan, or it falls within some particular
categories set out in Section 14.
The Company holds water permit 1795-4 to cover the taking of water from the Waiaua River in association
with the Opunake hydroelectric power scheme. This permit was issued by the Council on 13 October 2006
under Section 87(d) of the RMA. It is due to expire on 1 June 2018.
Special condition 1 defines the maximum rate of abstraction (3,900 L/s).
Special condition 2 requires the Company to
process sewers which flow to the
storm pond. The stormwater falling on the non-process areas of the western half of the site (Figure 1) is
directed by “v” ditches running alongside the roads to a dam known as the Duck Pond and then out to the
Tasman Sea via the Manu Stream. Stormwater falling on the eastern side of the site is directed to unnamed
tributaries of the Waihi Stream via outfalls and a small sedimentation pond.
Sludge from the storm pond, off-spec pond and blow down pond stored in
yield and order for each REC class, which is influenced by the amount of data (viz. contributing sites)
within each class. The REML model does not produce a coefficient of determination that can be used
to check of the goodness of fit of the model. However, goodness of fit was assessed using the
frequency with which observed yields fall within the mean yield estimated by the model and 95%
confidence interval for a class.

results fell into the MfE

The Council also monitors for VOCs around
significant potential sources, such as gas production
stations, as part consent compliance programmes.
Results always fall well within guideline values.
