3. Tiaki Te Mauri O Parininihi Trust – Annual Update
Mr John Hooker, Iwi Representative, gave a Mihi whakatau to welcome the guests
from Tiaki Te Mauri O Parininihi Trust to the meeting.
3.1 Mr S R Hall,
to the landscape and visual aspects of the applications. This
information included:
• LINZ Map data, Aerial photography, Google Earth and Streetview; and
• Regional and District Plan assessments, provisions and map overlays.
Following the desktop study, river characteristics (where accessible) and the surrounding
landscape context were surveyed on site visits undertaken with Trustpower personnel in
September and October 2018, and subsequently by the author in February 2020 and
additional accelerated funding for a bypass of Mount
Messenger on State Highway 3 (SH3). The new project needs to be included within the
Taranaki RLTPlan in order to be progressed. The Transport Agency has therefore
lodged a request to vary the current RLTPlan.
4.3 The Committee noted and encouraged the NZ Transport Agency to engage early with
affected communities, including Iwi (Ngāti Tama) and landowners re the new Mount
Messenger Bypass roading project to avoid any
