Policy considerations
7. This memorandum and the associated recommendations are consistent with the policy documents and
positions adopted by this Council under various legislative frameworks including, but not restricted to,
the Local Government Act 2002, the Resource Management Act 1991 and the Local Government
Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.
Iwi considerations
8. This
meetings have been held by the district councils with Māori at hapū and marae
level. Legally it is appropriate that discussions are held with Marae Trusts as the
landowners, though iwi authorities should be made aware that these conversations are
occurring. Recommendation made by WK that all contact should be recorded in writing
to be able to stand up at any later stage.
