1.1.3 The Resource Management Act 1991 and monitoring
The RMA primarily addresses environmental ‘effects’ which are defined as positive or adverse, temporary or
permanent, past, present
specifically for local authorities, their committees, subcommittees and subordinate decision-making bodies. They fulfil the requirements of the Local Government Act 2002 (LGA 2002) and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA).
