Environmental ‘effects’ are defined as positive or adverse, temporary or permanent, past, present or future,
or cumulative. Effects may arise in relation to:
a. the neighbourhood or the wider community around an activity, and may include cultural and social-
economic effects;
b. physical effects on the locality, including landscape, amenity and visual effects;
c. ecosystems, including effects on plants, animals, or habitats, whether aquatic or
collected for physicochemical analysis, two biomonitoring surveys of receiving waters, and one
marine ecology inspection.
The monitoring showed that activities at the Paritūtū site had no significant impact on air quality in the
vicinity of the plant or on water quality in the Herekawe Stream. There were no unauthorised incidents
recording non-compliance in respect of the consent holders during the period under review.
For reference, in the 2022-2023 year, consent holders were found to
communities, as well as road users travelling between the regions.
Severe weather events and heavy goods vehicle accidents have resulted in frequent road closures
or restricted operation of the highway, contributing to negative perceptions of the route.
Particular sections of this state highway at risk are Mount Messenger, the Uruti Valley and
Awakino Gorge. These areas also have very poor cellular phone coverage which compounds
safety and operational issues when incidents do occur.

Executive summary
The Stratford District Council (SDC) operates three water treatment plants (WTPs) in the Stratford District
that supply water to Stratford, Midhirst, and Toko. Each of the WTPs has a water take consent, and a consent
to discharge backwash water either to land or to water.
This report for the period July 2022 to June 2023 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the
Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess SDC’s
to
provide maps containing information that relates to
your risk identification and action selection process.
The regulations allow you to present maps in a way
that makes sense to you, providing the requirements
are met. This means you can choose any mapping
tools, the form, size, the number of maps, and the
combination of features you display on each map.
However, you should check with your
regional/unitary council if they have any guidance or
specific mapping requirements.

programme also included a significant data review component, with all injection data submitted by the
Company assessed for compliance on receipt.
The monitoring showed that the Company’s DWI activities were being carried out in compliance with the
conditions of the applicable resource consents. There is no evidence of any issues with any injection well
currently in use, or
discusses the results, their interpretations, and their significance for the environment.
Section 4 presents recommendations to be implemented in the 2023-2024 monitoring year.
