Waingongoro catchment. Until May 2014, the site was known as Riverlands Eltham. The plant has an
associated wastewater treatment system from which treated effluent is disposed of either to land or to
surface water.
This report covers the Company’s processing season from October 2022 to September 2023 and describes
the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the
Company’s environmental performance during the period under review. The report also

The RMA primarily addresses environmental ‘effects’ which are defined as positive or adverse, temporary or
permanent, past, present or future, or cumulative. Effects may arise in relation to:
a. the neighbourhood or the wider community around an activity, and may include cultural and social-
economic effects;
b. physical effects on the locality, including landscape, amenity and visual effects;
c. ecosystems, including effects on plants, animals, or habitats,

There were eight unauthorised incidents that occurred at the NPWWTP during the year; three due to
blockages, two due to heavy rainfall, and three due to operator errors. Four events were recorded for sewer

resource recovery, waste minimisation, and contaminated land sectors.
