We’re pleased to bring you an update on the quality of Taranaki’s waterways.
Our rivers and streams are vital to the well-being, livelihood and lifestyle of
everyone in the region. As the manager of the freshwater resource, the
Taranaki Regional Council closely monitors waterway quality to ensure that
fact and science can feed into public discussion as well as into
and rendering plant, located on Mountain Road at
Stratford, in the Kahouri Stream catchment, a tributary of the Patea River. The Company currently processes
only beef. Wastewater is treated in a two pond system, which is either irrigated to land when conditions
allow, or to the Kahouri Stream during high flow conditions. This report for the period July 2017 to June
2018 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to
assess the Company’s
Mountain Road at Midhirst, in the Manganui catchment. Transfer of consents between the
two parties became effective on 1 December 2012. NZ Pure Bred Genetics Ltd ( the Company)
specialises in growing 8 to 10 weeks old weaners for the market and do not grow fattening
pigs at the piggery. Significantly less effluent is produced by not growing fattening pigs.
This report for the period July 2014 to June 2015 describes the monitoring programme
implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the

Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the environmental and consent compliance performance
of the various companies operating in and around Port Taranaki, New Plymouth. Port Taranaki Ltd operates
Port Taranaki. Downer New Zealand Ltd (Downer) and Technix Bitumen Technologies Ltd (Technix) operate
bitumen plants within the bounds of the port. Methanex New Zealand Ltd (Methanex) operates a methanol
storage facility at
Paritutu Road, New Plymouth, in the Herekawe catchment. This report for the period July 2017 to
June 2018 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the
Council) to assess the Company’s environmental and consent compliance performance during the period
under review. The report also details the results of the monitoring undertaken and assesses the
environmental effects of the Company’s activities.
The Company holds two resource consents, which include a
Normanby in the
Waingongoro catchment. The Company holds a resource consent authorising the discharge
of treated stormwater into the Waingongoro River. This biennial report for the period July
2011-June 2013 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional
Council to assess the Company’s environmental performance during the period under
review, and the results and environmental effects of the Company’s activities.
The company holds one resource consent, which includes a
catchment. The Company holds a resource consent authorising the
discharge of treated stormwater into the Waingongoro River. This biennial report for the
period July 2013-June 2015 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki
Regional Council (the Council) to assess the Company’s environmental performance during
the period under review, and the results and environmental effects of the Company’s
quarrying activities.
The Company holds a resource consent, which includes a total of
permits, and in implementing monitoring programmes,
the Council is recognising the comprehensive meaning of ‘effects’ inasmuch as is appropriate for each
activity. Monitoring programmes are not only based on existing permit conditions, but also on the
obligations of the RMA to assess the effects of the exercise of consents. In accordance with Section 35 of

the RMA, the Council undertakes compliance monitoring for consents and rules in regional plans, and
maintains an
ammonia urea manufacturing plant located
near Kapuni, in the Kapuni Stream catchment. This report for the period July 2016-June 2017 describes the
monitoring programmes implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the
Company’s environmental performance during the period under review. The report also details the results
of the monitoring undertaken and assesses the environmental effects of the Company’s activities.
