Executive summary
The Stratford District Council (SDC) operates a municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) located on
Victoria Road at Stratford, in the Patea catchment. This report for the period July 2020 to June 2021
describes the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess
SDC’s environmental and consent compliance performance during the period under review. The report also
details the results of the monitoring undertaken and assesses the
life cycle. As hydroelectric schemes were introduced, and
roads and farm tracks crossed streams to open up access
to land for development, barriers to fish passage grew. We
know that the total number of instream structures in the
region is likely to be in the tens of thousands however, we
don’t yet know how many of these structures present a
barrier to fish passage.

This report for the period July 2020 to June 2021 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the
Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the Company’s environmental and consent compliance
performance during the 2020-2021 year. The report also details the results of the monitoring undertaken
and assesses the environmental effects of the Company’s activities. This is the eleventh annual report for this
site.
The Company holds one resource consent to discharge green waste to

The Ahuroa-B Gas Storage Facility (Ahuroa B / AGS) is owned and operated by Flexgas Ltd (the Company).
Ahuroa-B is located on the corner of Barleymans Road and Croydon Road, east of Midhirst, in the Waitara
catchment. Ahuroa-B supplies natural gas to one of its main customers, Contact Energy, for use in their

Plymouth, in the Waiwhakaiho catchment. During the year under review, the landfill was continuing to fill
Stage 3 of the site which has a design capacity of approximately 800,000 m3. Stages 1 and 2 have been
