General guidelines regarding consents for discharges to air are as follows: Poultry farms Small intensive poultry farms (of less than 30,000 poultry) generally do not require consent under the Regional Air Plan for Taranaki.
All poultry operations must ensure discharge does not result in objectionable odour, or dust at or beyond the boundary of the property.
Operations larger than 30,000 poultry kept at one time require resource consent to discharge contaminants to air. Piggeries

WHAT DOES THE RMA SAY?
SECTION 384 – EXISTING PERMISSIONS TO BECOME COASTAL PERMITS
(1) Every –
a. Permission granted under any of Parts 2, 4, and 5 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1977 (or
the corresponding provisions of any former enactment); and
b. License or permit granted under section 146A or section 156 or section 162 or section 165 of the
Harbours Act 1950, Order in Council made under section 175 of that Act, and every approval

the RMA, the Council undertakes compliance monitoring for consents and rules in regional plans and
maintains an overview of the performance of resource users and consent holders. Compliance monitoring,
including both activity and impact monitoring, enables the Council to continually re-evaluate its approach
and that of consent holders to resource management and, ultimately, through the refinement of methods
and considered responsible resource
to June 2024 by Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) describing
the monitoring programme associated with resource consents held by Wai-iti Motor Camp Ltd (the
Company). The Company operates the Wai-iti Beach Retreat (the Retreat) situated on Beach Road in North
Taranaki (Photo 1).
The report includes the results and findings of the monitoring programme implemented by the Council in
respect of the consents held by the Company that relate to the discharge of treated sewage effluent, and
2024 describes the monitoring programme implemented by
Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess NPDC’s environmental and consent compliance
performance during the period under review. The report also details the results of the monitoring
undertaken and assesses the environmental effects of the NPDC’s activities.
During the monitoring period, NPDC demonstrated an overall level of environmental performance that
requires improvement and a high level of administrative performance.

Executive summary
South Taranaki District Council (STDC) operates seven municipal oxidation pond systems within the district
of South Taranaki. This report for the period July 2023 to June 2024, focusses on the oxidation ponds system
located in Hawera, which comprises an anaerobic
wellsite. This consent includes a
total of 20 conditions setting out the requirements that the Company must satisfy.
The programme undertaken by Todd at the Kapuni-J wellsite included the hydraulic fracturing of three wells.
The wells targeted for stimulation were the Kapuni-28, Kapuni-27 and Kapuni-25 wells.
The programme of monitoring implemented by Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) in relation to these
hydraulic fracturing activities occurred during the 2023/24 monitoring year.
