Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to set out high-level principles and criteria to
Tasman Sea catchment. This is the eighteenth
report to be prepared by the Taranaki Regional Council to cover the Waitara Marine
Outfall discharge and its effects.
1.2 Structure of this report
Section 1 sets out general information about compliance monitoring under the
Resource Management Act and the Council’s obligations and general approach to
monitoring sites through annual programmes. The report also covers the resource
consents held by NPDC and Methanex, the nature of the
Audit and Risk Committee of the Taranaki
Regional Council held at 10.00am on Monday 24 March 2025 at Taranaki Regional Council 47

Resolved
That the
presented in this appendix must not be considered as a set of rules that will
be applied universally. Each individual situation will be considered by the Taranaki
Regional Council on its particular merits and circumstances, with regard for the level of
environmental protection that is appropriate in that situation.
This appendix contains information relating to the discharge of farm dairy effluent to land. The
material is laid out so that information relating to the treatment and discharge
(non-mountain) water temperatures were 12.9°C, about the same as normal for a typical October. October average wind speeds were 18.2km/hr, with average gust strength of 48.9km/hr. The maximum wind gust recorded in October was 130km/hr at Waitotara at Ngutuwera - the windiest spot in the region for the second month in a row.
