Resolves
That the Policy and Planning Committee of the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) takes as read and confirms the minutes of the Policy and Planning Committee meeting
of the Taranaki Regional Council held in the Taranaki Regional Council chambers, 47
Cloten Road, Stratford, …

and the health and wellbeing of our people.
Short term benefits will be increased involvement of Ngāti Mutunga in the kaitiakitanga of our
awa and the recording of robust data and mātauranga Māori. This will assist our longterm
goals of improving water quality and mahinga kai values and ultimately restoring the mauri of
our tupuna awa. Engagement with our iwi and engagement with our regional council is also
another measure of progress.

• Consult and collaborate with a diverse range of external and
internal stakeholders to deliver the strategic goals of the
Environment Quality group and wider Taranaki Regional
Council.
• Develop and maintain professional networks across all relevant
sectors, identifying opportunities to leverage or collaborate on
projects that may benefit the Taranaki Regional Council.
• Represent the Taranaki Regional Council in relevant national
forums
of evidence to conduct
investigations to ensure compliance and enforcement of national and
regional rules relating to all waterbodies and, intensive winter grazing
when appropriate.

knowledge
transfer
• Conduct investigations, and trials where appropriate, to assist the
Council to advise property owners and occupiers on appropriate
species and management techniques, to ensure successful
establishment and maintenance of plantings.

Working Together With Māori
The Council recognises the importance of working together with Māori across the
region including Māori involvement in decision making processes. There were a number
of activities during the including providing opportunities for Māori to contribute to the
decision-making processes of the Council.

Programme and manage capital projects and asset maintenance programmes
Contribute to the strategic leadership and direction of the Regional Gardens team and
implementation of the Council's strategic and operational plans.
The role encompasses engagement with iwi/hapū, the science community, and a range of internal
and external stakeholders. This includes helping to build strong and enduring relationships with
these stakeholders. Effectively communicating Councils regional
capabilities are fit for purpose.
