Air quality
The overall quality of air in the Taranaki region is excellent. Nonetheless, the Council keeps
a close eye on air quality as part of State of the Environment monitoring, and as part of
resource consent compliance.
Air quality data has been gathered and maintained for more than 20 years at up to 20 representative sites,
including urban, industrial, rural, coastal and pristine areas. In general, we use screening

Energy Aquatic Centre (Aquatic Centre)
located on Tisch Avenue, New Plymouth. This report for the period July 2016 to June 2017 describes the
monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess NPDC’s
environmental performance during the period under review. The report also details the results of the
monitoring undertaken and assesses the environmental effects of the Aquatic Centre’s activities.
NPDC holds two resource consents relating to the Aquatic
