conditions, but also on the
obligations of the RMA to assess the effects of the exercise of consents. In accordance with Section 35 of
the RMA, the Council undertakes compliance monitoring for consents and rules in regional plans, and
maintains an overview of the performance of resource users and consent holders. Compliance monitoring,
including both activity and impact monitoring, enables the Council to continually re-evaluate its approach
and that of consent holders to resource management and,
Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the Company’s environmental
performance during the period under review, and the results and environmental effects of the Company’s
activities.
The Company held two resource consents which included a total of 22 conditions setting out the
requirements that the Company must satisfy. The Company held resource consent 0351-3 to allow the
discharge of treated effluent to land and into the Rumkeg Creek and consent 5249-2 to allow the discharge
of
rate. However,
land that is used sustainably is less susceptible to erosion. Therefore, practices such as land retirement,
planting vegetation in areas prone to erosion, and managing stock appropriately all work to minimise
pressure on land resources, and ultimately ensure the region’s precious soil resource stays on the land. The
Council monitors sustainable land use in areas of the region prone to erosion, predominantly the eastern hill
country and coastal sand areas. Long-term data

Trustpower holds seven resource consents, which include a total of 35 conditions setting out the
requirements that Trustpower must satisfy. Trustpower holds three consents to allow it to divert, use and
discharge water and
land for the
purposes of dune stabilisation at Albany Road, Patea in the Patea catchment.
Green waste from a Hawera based contractor is transported to the site and discharged over
areas of sandy pasture that have undergone aeolian erosion. The green waste helps trap soil
and sand and upon decomposition, adds nutrients and condition to the sandy soils.
This report for the period July 2013-June 2014 describes the monitoring programme
implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the
South Taranaki District Council (STDC) holds consents to cover the discharge of
leachate and stormwater from seven closed landfills. The landfills are at Kaponga and
Manaia in the Waiokura catchment, Patea in the Patea catchment, Opunake in the Otahi
catchment, Hawera in the Tangahoe catchment, Otakeho in the Taikatu catchment and
Eltham in the Waingongoro catchment.
This report for the period July 2014 -June 2015 describes the monitoring programmes
implemented by the Taranaki Regional
November 2016 to 30 June 2017 by the Taranaki Regional Council (the
Council) on the monitoring programme associated with resource consents held by WestSide New Zealand
(WestSide). WestSide operates a petrochemical production station situated on Mokoia Road at Mokoia, in
the Manawapou catchment.
The report includes the results and findings of the monitoring programme implemented by the Council in
respect of the consents held by the Company that relate to discharges of water within the Manawapou
located on Palmer Road in the Kapuni catchment during the period under review. This report for the period
July 2016 to June 2017 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council
(the Council) to assess the Company’s environmental and consent compliance performance. The report also
details the results of the monitoring undertaken and assesses the environmental effects of the Company’s
