1.1.4 Evaluation of environmental and administrative performance
Besides discussing the various details of the performance and extent of compliance by
the Company, this report also assigns them a rating for their environmental and
administrative performance during the period under review.
Environmental performance is concerned with actual or likely

In general mustelids are difficult to trap, and
only trapping to a high standard will bring about
increased survival rates of birds. Keep a watchful
eye out for them and their tracks and droppings.
Input from an experienced mustelid trapper can
be very helpful when setting up your programme.

Evaluation of environmental and administrative performance
Besides discussing the various details of the performance and extent of compliance by
the consent holder during the period under review, this report also assigns a rating as
to the Company’s environmental and administrative performance.
Environmental performance is concerned with actual or likely effects on the receiving
environment from the activities during the monitoring year. Administrative
performance is concerned with the
modelled water quality variables. Model predictions were evaluated
to be very good, good, satisfactory or unsatisfactory, following the criteria proposed by Moriasi
et al., 2007, outlined in Table 4.
Table 4: Performance criteria for statistics used in this study, from (Moriasi et al., 2007).

trapping equipment required.
Why do we need to control introduced predators?
New Zealand has the highest rate of threatened species in the world. Around 81% of our birds,
88% of our reptiles and 72% of our freshwater fish are endangered. Most of our native species are
not found anywhere else in the world.
New Zealand has extraordinary
99.5% of Taranaki’s dairy farmers. Over 4.3m plants have
been supplied over the life of the programme.
• The Taranaki Regional Council has a comprehensive programme to
monitor all resource consent holders, which consistently reveals a
generally high rate of compliance with consent conditions across all
sectors.
• Non-compliance with consent conditions, and pollution
complaints are thoroughly investigated by Council and
appropriate enforcement action is taken.
The
lower shed temperature reduces the rate at which
odours are released. It also reduces microbial activity,
which is a significant cause of odour. When shed
temperatures are being optimised, these factors should
be considered.
bb) Contingency planning
To safeguard against the consequences of a high
mortality situation, a contingency plan for the rapid
disposal of very large numbers of birds should be
prepared e.g. access to off site incineration or prior
2017-2018). Only one of these incidents was directly related to the operation of
the NPWWTP and an associated resource consent condition, therefore, the remaining eight have not been
considered when rating NPDC’s environmental performance for this monitoring programme.
One of the incidents that occurred during 2018-2019 was an overflow from the Mangati Sewage Pump
Station on 21 January 2019 which resulted in significant adverse environmental effects. This incident has
resulted in a prosecution
