Are you a bus user or would like to start using public transport? Or is road safety and how speed is managed something you want to talk about? Or do you want more opportunities for walking or getting out and about on your bike? Taranaki Regional Council has launched a wide-ranging community conversation giving everyone in the region the chance to have a say on the future of transport with the views helping to shape public transport, cycling and walking, road speeds and safety. Council Chair
Taranaki people are being urged to have their say on the future of transport in the region including changes to speed limits on local roads and public transport improvements such as a proposed new bus to New Plymouth Airport. Feedback is being sought by the four Taranaki councils as part of their ‘The Road Ahead’ community conversation running from 18 September to 29 October, with the public’s views set to shape key transport strategies. Confirmation of Operations and Regulatory Committee Minutes – 29 April
2025
Resolved
That the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) took as read and confirmed the minutes of the Operations and Regulatory Committee of the
Taranaki Regional Council held on 29 April 2025 at Taranaki Regional Council 47 Cloten Road
Stratford
b) noted the recommendations therein were adopted by the Taranaki Regional
walkers consisting of a mix of leashed control and off-
leash areas. The proposal also prohibits dogs from the lake and the land lake ward of the access road
and the lower walking tracks around the lake. This approach ensures that wildlife using the grassed areas
adjacent to the lake continue to be protected from the impacts of dogs.
Refer to Map 2 of the proposed Bylaw.
Leashed control for Council cemeteries
Under the current Bylaw all Council cemeteries are off-leash and under control. Both
