Our first PredARTor Free Showcase opened
at Pukeiti and featured works of art by
New Zealand artists. The exhibition raised
awareness of Taranaki and New Zealand’s
predator-free journey with the 50 artists
drawing on their personal connection to the
environment and nature. Towards Predator-

Taranaki's world-leading Riparian Management Programme was a talking point at the Land Use and Water Quality conference at The Hague, Netherlands, in June 2017. The conference included a presentation on the voluntary, unsubsidised and large-scale riparian scheme. The scientists and policy-makers present were impressed by the scheme's uptake and ecological successes, especially in contrast with Europe’s highly regulated, highly funded and highly politicised approach. Eighteen sites have been remediated.
The Council has monitored air quality for
more than 25 years at up to 30 sites. Taranaki
is one of only two regions in New Zealand
not considered at risk of exceeding current
national air quality standards.
