Baseline states for nutrients
The NPS-FM requires all regional councils to identify baseline states for all attributes described in Appendix
2A and 2B of the NPS-FM within each Freshwater Management Unit (FMU). When compared against
national bottom lines and the relevant objectives for an FMU, baselines provide the reference point from
which councils must either maintain
the workshop were welcomed by Taranaki Regional Council Director-
Operations Dan Harrison. Mr Harrison explained that the workshop was part of the Council’s
programme to hear from the community about how they would like to see the region’s
freshwater protected and managed.
Mr Harrison advised that the input from workshops and engagement over the next two years
would help shape the Council’s Natural Resources Plan.

Schedule 8 – Significant surf breaks and Significant Surfing Area
This schedule identifies nationally, regionally and locally significant surf breaks and the Significant Surfing Area. Site locations are approximate only and are not intended to provide a
definitive location or extent of a site.
Schedule 8A – Nationally, regionally and locally significant surf breaks
the FWFP will be tailored to each farm and will
complement the existing efforts of many farmers. These plans will work with
other regulations, including nitrogen caps, stock exclusions, intensive winter
grazing regulations, regional plans and consent requirements.
Currently, farmers and growers are not required to take any immediate action
and should continue with their usual activities and follow existing farm plans.
The TRC will be reviewing and analysing the regulations to determine
