Recommendations
That the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) takes as read
Petroleum Ltd, operates the Kowhai-D hydrocarbon
exploration site located on Manganui Road, in the Waitara River catchment. This report for the period July
2016 to June 2018 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council
(the Council) to assess the Company’s environmental and consent compliance performance during the
period under review. The report also details the results of the monitoring undertaken and assesses the
environmental effects of the Company’s

Ngā ākau tokatoka | Rocky shore
Taranaki Regional Council has surveyed six rocky shores
twice a year since 1985. We measure algae coverage, sand
coverage, reef habitat and identify all species present.
The rocky shore isn’t an easy place to live. Tides expose
organisms to changeable temperatures, long stretches of
dryness alternating with periods of submersion and

Three scenarios were modelled to analyse the facility operating practices in 2018 compared to current
and predicted practises in 2019. An additional scenario explores the impact of a ‘best-case’ scenario
based on recommendations and what is understood to be technically feasible in the short term (1-2
year
between the Taranaki Regional Council and Iwi
Authorities on facilitating iwi engagement on the development of a Natural Resources
Plan for Taranaki (NRP), and summarising recent work undertaken in exploring the
principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and its application to the NRP development
process.
