Site-based baseline states identified for total phosphorus are presented in Figure 3. For four lakes (Lake
Rotokawau (NHC), Barret Lagoon (VRP), Lake Kaikura (CT) and Lake Herengawe (CT)), band C applies, while
two lakes (Lake Rotokare (SHC) and Lake Waikare (SHC)) fall within band D.

and soft-sedimentary, volcanic acidic and volcanic basic geology. All sites that do not fall in these categories are in the default
class.
Further, as the maximum amount of periphyton biomass is affected by the amount of nutrients in the water
column, the NPS-FM also requires councils to set appropriate in-stream concentrations and exceedance
criteria for dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) and dissolved reactive phosphorus (DRP) to regulate periphyton
biomass growth
(for instance, as to the
diversion of natural water) to take into account climate change effects
of the burning of coal (for instance, by prohibiting such diversions if
associated with coal mining)? Such an exercise would not be directly
precluded by s 70A of the RMA. It might, however, be thought to fall
foul of an implied and more general limitation on its competence in
relation to climate change underlying the 2004 Amendment Act. If so,
such a rule would be ultra
following REC defined types: WD/SS, WD/VB, WD/VA, CD/SS, CD/VB, CD/VA. The Default class includes all REC types not in
the Productive class.
Based on a monthly monitoring regime. The minimum record length for grading a site based on periphyton (chlorophyll-a)
is 3 years.
* The productive class is defined by River Environment Classification (REC) types, with a combination of dry climate categories
and soft-sedimentary, volcanic acidic and volcanic basic geology. All sites that do not fall in
growth on the western filter bed. In terms of campers and visitors, the
camp was relatively quiet at the time of the inspection. Seawater samples were
collected.

7 January 2016
Conditions were relatively fine with patchy cloud, and a light to moderate north
westerly wind. There had been heavy rain in the catchment on the 3rd of January.
STDC had removed the top layer of spent
written standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine activities as well as for spills e.g. SOP’s for handling, filling or emptying containers and inspection and maintenance of bunds and associated valves.

inspected and appeared to be in a satisfactory condition. The
treatment pond also looked good.
18 November 2014
Heavy rain had preceded this inspection. The site appeared to be well managed and
maintained. There were no stormwater discharge issues, nor were there any dust or
odour issues. Only a small amount of product was stockpiled on site at the time of the
inspection.
15 May 2015
It was raining at the time of the inspection. There was a large amount of product
stockpiled on site. No
