Comments: There is already equity in terms of representation and consultation when it
comes to Maori. For example the iwi liaison and all the required iwi
consultation on consents etc.
To establish this only creates division based on race by giving special
preference to certain race.
Lets not split this
schedule 10 of the Local Government Act
2002 requires the Council to set out in its long-term
plan any steps that the Council intends to take to foster
the development of Maori capacity to contribute to the
decision making processes of the Council over the
period covered by the Plan. There are eight recognised
iwi in the region.
To achieve these objectives the Council intends to
undertake the following:
FOUNDATIONS OF A RELATIONSHIP
Act cooperatively and in
Planning services. Provide property planning
services to landholders. Prepare plans covering
2,000 ha of land use capability mapping in the hill
country and 30 riparian plans in the intensive water
management zone.

Condition 24 is a review provision.
NPDC holds discharge permit 2982-4 to cover the discharge of up to 60 m3/day of leachate from a sludge
stabilisation lagoon to groundwater in the vicinity of the Waiwhakaiho River. This permit was issued by the
Council on 17 October 2002 under Section 87(e) of the RMA. It is due to expire on 1 June 2020.
There are five special conditions attached to the permit.
