It takes up to 90 minutes to walk to the Family Hut
following the main route (you will receive a map
with your booking confirmation). The track takes you
through regenerating native rainforest with plentiful
birdlife.
The track can be muddy in places. Please be prepared
with sturdy walking footwear and appropriate
clothing.

• The Family Hut sleeps a maximum of 12,
bunk-bed style.
• There is a log-burner fireplace, with firewood
and kindling

A documentary examining the impact of oil and gas exploration on the region “A
Fracking Tour of Taranaki” was launched in mid-September. Former Director-
Environment Quality Gary Bedford was interviewed.
TRC responded to an interview request regarding reported concerns that iwi are
being improperly consulted regarding resource consent applications.

9. Iwi Appointments to Taranaki Regional Council Standing Committees
9.1 Mr M J Nield, Director-Corporate Services, spoke to the memorandum to receive and
confirm iwi appointments to the Council’s Consents and Regulatory Committee and
Policy and Planning Committee.
