16. This memorandum and the associated recommendations are consistent with the
Council’s policy for the development of Māori capacity to contribute to decision-making
processes (schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 2002) as outlined in

Furthermore, schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 2002 requires the Council to set out any steps that the
Council intends to take to foster the development of Māori capacity to contribute to the decision making
processes of the Council. There are eight recognised iwi in the region.

The first part of the meeting was a recap of the ILM and Benefit maps following
the ILM workshops held with Erik Barnes on 18 July 2017.
The group considered appropriate strategic responses in relation to the benefits
identified during the workshops. The group also discussed what KPI’s and
measures could be used as means to assess progress.
Erik will email FR his notes from the session with FR to distribute to the wider
group. Members were asked to review
