Resolved
That the Taranaki Solid Waste Management Committee of the Taranaki Regional
Council:
a) took as read and confirmed the minutes and resolutions of the Taranaki Solid
Waste Management Committee meeting held at EnviroWaste New Plymouth
speed through Egmont Village and road
noise impacting the Egmont Village School.
1.2 The committee asked for information on what plans the school or the Education Board
had put in place for noise reduction such as acoustic barriers.
1.3 Ms L Stewart, Director Regional Relationships, Waka Kotahi, acknowledged the
deputation and advised that it would be logical for the improvements needed at
Egmont Village to be done as part of the planned safety improvement works. A safety

noted that the unconfirmed minutes of the Taranaki Solid Waste Management Committee held at
on Thursday 14 November 2024 at Taranaki Regional Council have been circulated to the New
Plymouth District Council, Stratford District Council and South Taranaki District Council for receipt
to clients. Nappies past their prime
will be recycled into rags (available for sale) or sent to
Terracycle for textile recycling.
The project was funded in part by NPDC’s Zero Waste Fund and Stratford District Council’s waste
levy contestable fund.
Child Car Seat Recycling *NPDC*
From April-June, New Plymouth District Council worked with Baby on the Move in Inglewood to run
a trial to recycle expired or damaged car seats. The trial was an outstanding success and 100 car
seats
are not tangible to be signed off or completed. While rewriting the
group plan, consideration will be given on identifying tangible objectives. Some
objectives have slowed/changed drastically due to higher priorities that have
arisen over the past two years. Further advised that staff members are allowed

five items ‘above the line’ and are unable to commence new tasks until other
schools, Turuturu,
Mokoia and Tawhiti took part and it was great to hear so
many discussions on what made something recyclable or

Kiatiakitanga Day at Central School *NPDC*
Tamariki (years 0-2) had a full day of environmental learning at Central Primary School. Four classes
rotated through 4 stations and learned about becoming Predator Free
options or further analysis of costs and
benefits, or advantages and disadvantages prior to making a decision on this
matter.
