Introduction & Background
New Plymouth Airport (the Airport) operates as a commercial entity managed by Papa Rererangi i Puketapu,
a Council Controlled Trading Organisation. New Plymouth District Council is the sole owner of the Airport.
The Airport is the aviation hub for the Taranaki region and is the fourth-busiest regional airport in New
Zealand and the ninth busiest in the country
accumulation of sand around the breakwater, the city beaches to the north east of the port have previously
been starved of sand.
This report for the period July 2018 to June 2020 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the
Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the Company’s environmental and consent compliance
performance relating to the dredge campaign during the period under review and the results and
environmental effects of the campaign.

Resolved
That the Executive, Audit and Risk Committee of the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) takes as read and confirms the minutes and resolutions of the Executive, Audit
and Risk Committee held in the Taranaki Regional Council Chambers, 47 Cloten
road, Stratford on Monday 2 August

monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the
Company’s environmental and consent compliance performance during the period under review. The report
also details the results of the monitoring undertaken and assesses the environmental effects of the

The Company holds three resource consents, which include a total of 26 conditions setting out the
meetings held Tuesday 7 April and Tuesday 19 May were

Prediction of oil spill movement and behaviour
It is necessary to determine the type, characteristic, quantity and location of a spill and to
incorporate a number of environmental factors, in order to determine as accurate as possible
a prediction on the spill’s movement; including changes in characteristics due to weathering,
and the
programme implemented by
the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the environmental performance of consent holders in
the Port Area Industrial Catchments of New Plymouth. The report also details the results of the monitoring
