General Description
Watsons Hill Bush is located on privately owned land on Toe Toe Road, 3.5Km north-west of Tarata. The
site is a 2.9 ha remnant of lowland tawa, kohekohe, rewarewa, hinau, podocarp forest, on short steep
slopes descending to the Waitara River. The forest provides good

flood control schemes. This leaflet explains what’s involved in these schemes, what
they’re designed to withstand, and what flood risks may remain.

Part of Waitara's current flood defences.
Long-term Waitara residents will recall floods
in the township, the
operates a petrochemical production station and
adjacent power plant located on Otaraoa Road near Tikorangi, bridging the Waitara and
Onaero catchments. The McKee Production Station processes oil and gas from the Company’s
McKee and Mangahewa groups of wellsites and includes electricity generation and LPG
production facilities. Located to the south of the production station, the McKee Power Plant
was completed and commissioned during the 2012-2014 period. This 100 MW electricity

Taranaki schools have been up to as much
as I have enjoyed working with them.
Taranaki Regional Council Environmental
instituted cyanobacteria programme (covering
four lakes and one river site) instigated after consultation with Taranaki Healthcare. An
additional site in the lower Waitara River was added in the latest period at the joint request
of Taranaki Healthcare and NPDC. The fifteen sites have been graded for recreational
suitability according to MfE, 2003 guidelines, based upon the immediately preceding five
seasons of monitoring data (where such data existed). A sixteenth site (Lake Rotokare) has
