A proportion of existing soil ponds (10%) are assumed to require liners to prevent leakage of effluent into the soil and groundwater. The activity falls under Rule 51 of the Regional Freshwater Plan for Taranaki and is classified as a discretionary activity. The application may be non- notified if no parties are deemed to be adversely affected by the proposed activity. At the time of writing, there were a total of 19 current resource consents for DWI in Taranaki.
