Iwi considerations
This memorandum and the associated recommendations are consistent with the Council’s
policy for the development of Māori capacity to contribute to decision-making processes
(schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 2002) as outlined in the adopted long-term plan
and/or annual plan. Similarly, iwi involvement in adopted work programmes has been
recognised in the preparation of this memorandum.

5. This memorandum and the associated recommendations are consistent with the policy
documents and positions adopted by this Council under various legislative frameworks
including, but not restricted to, the Local Government Act 2002, the Resource Management
Act 1991 and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

Well drilling
Well drilling is a permitted activity undertaken in accordance with Rule 46 of the
Regional Fresh Water Plan for Taranaki. However if directional drilling results in
structures (eg. Well casing) beneath the sea bed or foreshore, consents pursuant to
the Regional Coastal Plan for Taranaki must be obtained. If such consents are to be
applied for, comment will need to be sought from Iwi under the Marine and Coastal
Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011
financial year and build in the next financial
year. Need more design and preparation work and ensure good
consultation with iwi is happening.
Working to tidy up the AMP to prevent duplication.
Spending more money in rural areas with roads being destroyed by
forestry so the budget for rehabs is high.
Integrated Transport Strategy – really want to get things under control
with State Highway and bypass routes, linking the modes of transport.
