July 2019 rainfall

Rain returned to Taranaki with a vengeance in July after a dryish spell, with some of our monitored sites getting significantly more than the month's normal rainfall.

July totals ranged from 107% to 179% of normal at monitored sites, with a region-wide average of 139%.

Rain was recorded on 15 to 21 days, with most occurring on 2, 14 and 16 July. Kotare, inland of Ahititi, recorded 352.5mm, which is 179% of its July normal.

Year-to-date rainfall is nearer to normal, with totals ranging from 77% (North Egmont) to 119% (Patea). The region-wide average is 92%.
