Bus delays when Americarna rolls through

Taranaki public bus services will be affected by the high-octane bustle of Americarna this Thursday and Friday (23-24 February).

Americarna is back, delighting enthusiasts, but needing patience from bus users. On Thursday, Connector buses travelling through Inglewood and Citylink buses in Waitara will take detours due to road closures.

The Connector will continue to use the Moa St stops in Inglewood. The detour will then follow Mountain Road SH3A, Carrington St and Brown St before heading back onto Rata St as usual. The reverse will apply on the south-bound journey.

In Waitara, there will be a detour along Grey St, Whitaker St East and West Quay, and then left on to North Street to Waitara East, with the reverse applying on the way out. Passengers should wave the bus down, says Taranaki Regional Council Transport Services Manager, Chris Clarke.

On Friday, High St in Hawera will be closed, so the bus stop at the Hawera i-SITE will not be available from 11am to 5.30pm. As in previous years, the stop will be moved to the corner of Collins St and High St, by the roundabout. This will affect the Connector and Southlink services.

The Citylink and Connector services will also experience delays in accessing the central bus stops on Liardet St and Ariki St when Americarna heads back to New Plymouth on Friday

“We support this great regional event and appreciate your patience at this time,” says Mr Clarke.
