The trees that undress for winter will be the subject of a free public workshop at Tupare in New Plymouth on Sunday (15 August).
The Gardens Manager - Tupare, Mitch Graham, and arborist Richard Lambert will explore the ins and outs of deciduous trees and their care, with many examples on hand in the property's landscaped gardens.
The Taranaki Regional Council's Regional Gardens Manager, Greg Rine, says the workshop will explore the argument that deciduous trees have more to offer year-round and season by season than other trees.
Discussion topics will include:
- How to select the best deciduous trees for your property.
- What, how and when to prune.
- The benefits of deciduous trees, whether for a small city garden or a large lifestyle block.
The workshop will run from 10am to noon at Tupare, one of three heritage properties owned and administered by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region. The others are Pukeiti and Hollard Gardens.
