Block. Investigation found that fill material (soil and rock) was being received on site
and used to reclaim an area of a pond on the property and that this was in breach of Rule 43 and 76 of the
Regional Fresh Water Plan for Taranaki (RFWP). Abatement notices were issued requiring the activity to
cease and for works to be undertaken to ensure compliance with these Rules. A resource consent was
subsequently applied for and granted and no further reclamation activity was undertaken at the site
we should not and cannot rest on our laurels. The community has high and growing expectations
and aspirations around the quality of our waterways. Protecting and further enhancing our freshwater
resource will effectively ‘future-proof’ the region, ensuring that Taranaki can continue to offer economic
opportunities and enviable lifestyles to the children and grandchildren of today’s citizens.
As part of a review of both the Fresh Water Plan and Soil Plan, the Council is proposing that
