Manawa Energy Ltd (the Company) operates the Mangorei Hydroelectric Power (HEP) scheme in the
Waiwhakaiho River catchment to the south of New Plymouth. The Company diverts water from the
Waiwhakaiho River into Lake Mangamāhoe, from where it is directed through penstocks to the Mangorei
Power Station, located on Hydro Road. The water is returned to the Waiwhakaiho River at the Meeting of
the Waters, six kilometres downstream of the original diversion.
