Regional Fresh Water Plan - published 2001
This Plan assists the Council to carry out its functions under the Resource Management Act to promote the sustainable management of the region’s freshwater resources. The Plan contains regional rules which categorise activities into different classes (permitted, controlled, discretionary or prohibited), with different standards, terms or conditions which apply to them.
TWO NEW 'TRANSITIONAL' POLICIES
As directed by the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management 2011 (the NPS), the Taranaki Regional Council has amended the Regional Fresh Water Plan for Taranaki to include a new section - Section 5A [NPS on Freshwater Management - transitional policies].
Section 5A of the Plan inserts policies A4 and B7 from the NPS. From 1 July 2011, the new policies will apply to resource consent decision-making for activities relating to the use of, and effects on, fresh water. The amendments were made in accordance with section 55 of the Resource Management Act 1991 and policies A4 and B7 of the NPS (which direct that the amendments are made without using the public submission process under the Resource Management Act 1991).
An updated version of the Regional Fresh Water Plan for Taranaki may be downloaded from these pages. Alternatively, hard copies of the amended Plan can be ordered by contacting the Taranaki Regional Council on (06) 765 7127.
